The Libyan National Association of Municipalities elected the mayor of Sabrathah, Hussein Al-Thawadi, as its Chairman at a hall at Tripoli International Fair, with the participation of 28 municipalities from all over the country.
Mohammed Banoun was also elected as the rapporteur for the association.
After the successful election, the association discussed the shortage of cash at the banks across Libya and how the mayors can monitor the issue through being tasked to contact the relevant authorities to find urgent and quick resolutions.
The meeting of the 28 municipalities also went thoroughly through the probability of supporting the prices balance fund to get this issue over with and start providing basic goods for the citizens with the government’s official prices.
They also discussed the breached security in the southern region’s municipalities and the knowhow for restoring safety and stability in there, in addition to talking about serious and urgent solutions for the issue of the coastal road that links Tripoli with the western cities.
On November 10, the National Association of Municipalities held a meeting in Gharyan and decided to elect a Chairperson and a rapporteur in Tripoli on Saturday, November 19.
