The House of Representatives (HoR) said it is strange that the UNSMIL has hailed the unilateral Presidential Council’s cabinet replacements, saying the reshuffling decision has violated the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA.)

The HoR explained in a statement on Monday that the control of Fayez Al-Sirraj on decision making in Libya without consultations with the rest of the PC members led to the withdrawal of several members and thus left the decisions meaningless and with no effect.

“HoR engaged in a UNSMIL-led dialogue for Libya because it believes that division must end in the country. The dialogue created the LPA and it formed the PC which is supported by the international community in spite of not being included in the constitutional declaration.” The statement reads.

It adds that several MPs, as many as more than 134, demanded withdrawing confidence from the PC and forming a new one headed by a president and two deputies, citing weakness of the current PC leadership and structure.

The PC reshuffled Sunday its government cabinet, naming new interior, economy, finance, and youths and sport ministers.

The step was commended by UNSMIL, vowing to support them to implement the new security arrangements in Tripoli and to execute the economic reforms.
