Military officers from the Amazigh community in western Libya are planning to declare a military council for Libyan Amazigh, Fassato news website quoted a military source as saying.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source told the Amazigh news outlet on Thursday that the move comes in response to “the policy of exclusion and marginalization practiced by the Presidential Council and its government towards the Amazigh in Libya.”
“These practices pose a threat to the national security of the Amazigh,” the source said.
The military source also rejected the latest Presidential Council appointment of Osama Al-Jwaili, from Zintan, as Chief of the Western Military Zone.
“The inclusion of the Amazigh districts within this military zone is a political decision imposed from the outside.” The source stated.
No date was set for the declaration of the Amazigh military council.
