Chairman of Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks on the sidelines of the 74th United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday to discuss joint cooperation and the latest situations in Libya.

President Erdogan reiterated his country’s support for the Government of National Accord and praised Al-Sarraj’s firm position in defense of Tripoli and the civilian authority.

He also condemned warlord Khalifa Haftar’s attack on Tripoli and his armed group’s shelling of civilian institutions.  

For his turn, Fayez Al-Sarraj appreciated Turkey’s rejection of the war on Tripoli, stressing the depth of the two countries’ ties. He called for more cooperation between the two countries to include all fields.

The two leaders also discussed the forthcoming Berlin conference on Libya and agreed that all countries concerned with Libya file should be invited.
