Libyan Crime Watch (LCW) has expressed shock at the dead bodies found dumped in public areas in Benghazi, denouncing the continued extrajudicial killings going on in the city.

The organization confirmed that eight bodies were recovered near Hawari neighbourhood on Thursday evening, and two others were found on the beach Friday.

"The bodies in Hawari were handcuffed and shot." They were transferred to the Benghazi Medical Centre by one of Haftar's militias known as the "155th Brigade" under tight security and the utmost discretion, the LCW said.

In a separate statement on Friday, the organization revealed that two other unidentified bodies were found lying on the beach west of Benghazi, indicating they were also handcuffed and shot in the head.

The LCW called on the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the UN Fact-Finding Committee on Libya to assume its responsibilities and open urgent investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.

It also demanded the Government of National Unity (GNU) to investigate and reveal the victims' identities and take swift action to prevent the recurrence of such "heinous crimes."

Activists from Benghazi have confirmed that some bodies have been found in the Hawari area in Benghazi, but pro-Haftar media outlets - most notably the Al-Hadath channel owned by Haftar's sons- was quick to deny the incident, accusing specific parties of running "malicious media campaigns" of fabricating the story to prove that Benghazi is not safe.
