The UN Special Envoy to Libya Jan Kubis on Saturday reiterated the mission's continued support for the National Oil Corporation (NOC) efforts to support Libya's economy.

This came during the UN envoy's visit to the NOC HQ in Tripoli and his meeting with its Chairman Mustafa Sanalla, according to a statement by the NOC.

The statement indicated the envoy's praise of the NOC's commitment to the "principle of transparency", saying it strengthened its position domestically and internationally as a neutral technocratic institution working for the benefit of all Libyans.

In turn, Sanalla commended the UN mission's support to Libya over the past years, especially for the oil sector, and gave an introductory overview about the corporation and its companies, its role in managing the oil industry in Libya, and the services it provides.

"The NOC has always dealt with all professionally and impartially and away from any political and continuing conflicts in the performance of its tasks through technocrats and technicians," the NOC head said.

He emphasized that their only concern is to maintain the flow of oil, continue production processes, and secure income and financial resources to support the national economy.
