Puppets of warlord Khalifa Haftar in Benghazi, Umm al-Rizam and Qubbah, east Libya, have attacked the polling stations and tore up the posters bearing the numbers of the stations, in a big blow to the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) and UN Support Mission in Libya.

In a number of videos posted on social media pages, they stressed their utter refusal to parliamentary and presidential elections that the HNEC intends to hold in 2018 to end the political division and bring security and stability to the country.

The angry men called for installing Khalifa Haftar as president of the country and claimed that elections will only bring “the Muslim Brotherhood” to power.

“No to elections; the people want president Haftar”, they shouted while removing the signs of the electoral districts from the schools, which are used by the HNEC as polling stations.

“The people have mandated Field Marshal Haftar to rule the country”, one puppet claimed.

In Qubbah town, the election posters had been given to children to play with.

“Here we don’t have elections and Muslim Brotherhood; here we have only Haftar; Allah Akbar”, another puppet from Qubbah shouted.

The threat to ban the elections comes a day after the HNEC announced start of voter registration for 2018 elections.

Khalifa Haftar and his puppets are waiting for the expiry of Libyan Political Agreement on December 17 to self-declare control of the country. The puppets claimed they had collected 1.291 million signatures to declare Haftar as president of Libya and they would refer the results to the UN, EU, AU and the Arab League.

Earlier, spokesperson of Dignity Operation, Ahmed Mismari , declared that Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army would intervene and end the Libyan crisis militarily if no political agreement reached by the end of December.
