Libya is in contact with Lebanon for the extradition of Hannibal Gaddafi, son of former dictator, Minister of Justice Mustafa Al-Ghalaib told the General National Congress on Tuesday.

During a parliamentary hearing session in Tripoli, he said his ministry had established close cooperation with the Lebanese Ministry of Justice and judicial authorities there to secure his extradition very soon.

"Our cooperation is going to reach an advanced stage," he declared.

Shia militants kidnapped Hannibal in December in Lebanon's Bekaa valley near the Syrian border in a bid to find information about the fate of Shiite cleric Musa Sader, who went missing in Libya in 1978.

He was freed by police hours later, but was arrested again by Lebanese authorities after the Ministry of Justice issued an arrest warrant against him in the case of Musa Sader.
