The Italian Interior Minister, Luciana Lamorgese, said it was necessary to boost Italy-Libya bilateral relations, adding in a meeting with the Libyan Foreign Minister, Najla Al-Mangoush, that Rome was working on an expanded strategy in relations with the Government of National Unity in order to fit in with the current drive that aims to achieve stability in the country, according to Italian news agency AKI.

Lamorgese told Al-Mangoush that she was certain that the Government of National Unity would get the job done successfully and that Rome would continue to support this process as it has always done.

A statement by the Italian Interior Ministry added that the meeting went over issues of mutual interest such as illegal immigration fight and combating human trafficking as well as organized crime, in addition to cooperation in human rights work regarding refugees and immigrants.

The Italian Interior Minister reaffirmed to Al-Mangoush Rome's keenness to expand cooperation and joint agreements in security and combating terrorism threats.
