The Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj met Tuesday with the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte in presence of several Libyan and Italian officials in Rome.

Al-Sarraj hailed Italy's stance that rejects instability and military power grip in Libya and its assistance to his government in fighting terrorism as well as its assistance to the Libyan Coast Guard in fighting illegal immigration.

He also called on Italy to exercise more power in the European and international circles to help halt the current offensive on Tripoli led by Khalifa Haftar.

Conte reiterated Italy's support for the Presidential Council's government and rejection for any military solution in Libya, urging for the return to political process under the auspices of the UNSMIL.

He also said that war could expand all across Libya and thus cause a greater damage, urging for a halt of military operations.

Al-Sarraj arrived Monday in Rome as part of a European tour he is willing to make. Next stops for Al-Sarraj would include Germany, France, and the UK.
