The Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said he had agreed with the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi to reject military solutions for the crisis in Libya, adding that they all agree on the need to put the political process back on track.

The remarks were made in a phone call between Conte and the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj in which he told him what he said to Putin in China and to Essebsi in Tunisia on Tuesday.

Al-Sarraj hailed Italy's keenness on ending the offensive on Tripoli and achieving stability in the country, stressing that the Libyan Army forces will continue to foil the attack until Khalifa Haftar's forces are defeated and returned to their previous positions.

Meanwhile, Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini told Presidential Council's member Ahmed Mitig on the phone Tuesday that the attack on Tripoli must stop, adding that bombing civilians cannot go unnoticed and that the "GNA" is the international partner in the fight against terrorism.
