The Italian President, Sergio Mattarella, called for engaging all neighboring states of Libya in the initiatives of political solutions to the country's crisis under the auspices of the UN.

Mattarella's statement came in a joint press conference with Algerian President Abdelmajid Tebboune in Algeria, where he discussed regional and international issues, including the developments in Libya.

The Italian President said Italy and Algeria see eye to eye on the situation in Libya, saying his country supported the participation of Libya neighboring states in Berlin conference that was the basis for peaceful track in Libya in addition to the initiatives under the auspices of the UN.

Mattarella also urged for effective partnership between Africa and Europe regarding immigration, saying Europe and Italy are ready for a real change in this situation, including providing funds to help end poverty and achieve development in illegal immigration source countries.
