Four Italian nationals were abducted in western Libya on Sunday, Press Solidarity reported. The four, who are workers for Mellitah Oil & Gas Company, were abducted near the coastal city of Sabratha during their return to work coming from Tunisia. Their whereabouts and the identity of the kidnappers are still unknown.

The Italian Foreign Ministry confirmed the kidnapping saying in a statement Monday that the four employees of construction company Bonatti were kidnapped near a compound owned by Italian oil and gas group Eni in the Mellitah area.
