Two Misrata fighters were killed and 10 others were injured Wednesday in fresh clashes against ISIS militants in the east of the city, one week after ISIS suicide attacks on Abugrein.

Militants of the group, who seized new towns around Sirte last week, launched a surprise attack at night on Misrata fighters, who are stationed in the east of Saddadah bridge, around 80 km to the east of Misrata. One of the dead fighters is Walid Shagmani, a senior commander in Mahjoob brigade.

ISIS militants started their offensive with a failed suicide attack before being forced to retreat to Abugrein, which they seized last week.

The new attack is seen as an attempt by the group to advance west and take Saddadah checkpoint.
