The media bureau of Al-Bunyan Al-Marsous operation reported from Official Libyan sources that one of the IS senior leaders, Khaled Al-Shayeb, who is internationally wanted for terror cases in Libya and Tunisia, was killed and his body was identified after the clashes in Al-Baghla crossroad a couple of days ago.

On Sunday, the bureau reported from a source at the investigations department at the Public Prosecutor’s Office that the identity of Al-Shayeb had been recognized by IS detainees at the Tripoli-based Special Deterrent Force.

“Al-Shayeb’s death comes as a surprise after he has been for long regarded as dead for many parties, among which the Tunisian security departments.” The media bureau added.

Al-Shayeb is a prominent IS senior leader in North Africa and the commander of IS militants in Algeria and Tunisia. He is also the main suspect in the attack that killed many European tourists in Tunisia’s capital, Tunis, last year.
