The Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) in Tripoli condemned Wednesday the "heinous crime" against the migrants in Tajoura detention center, where scores were killed and others injured in an airstrike by Khalifa Haftar's Air Force.

"This massacre must be condemned by the international community and an international fact-finding committee must be formed and sent to cooperate with the government of National Accord in probing the airstrike and its aftermath." HoR said in a statement.

The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini said in a statement that the European Union also called on the UN to probe the crime in Tajoura and bring the perpetrators of this "deadly attack" to justice.

"The EU tried to evacuate the migrants close to the fighting zones and is still trying to do so. So many people are in danger zones and must be evacuated and transferred to safer places." Moghrini added.

Meanwhile, the African Union condemned the attack and called for holding the perpetrators accountable, as the chairman of AU's Commission Moussa Faki called for an independent probe into the crime abasing the innocent civilians.

Agence France Presse (AFP) reported that the UN Security Council will hold an emergency session on Wednesday to discuss the killing of 44 migrants and injuring over 80 others in an airstrike on their center in Tajoura, eastern Tripoli.

Haftar's Air Force jets hit the migrants' center in the early hours of Wednesday leaving the building almost completely destroyed.
