A number of Benghazi IDPs filed a lawsuit at the General Prosecutor’s Office in Tripoli over the violations made against them by the defense minister-designate of the UN-proposed government and commander of 204 Tanks Brigade, Mihdi Al-Barghathi, and a number of Dignity Operation leaders in Benghazi.

“What made us file the lawsuit is what they did to us such as forcing us into displacement and stealing our houses and properties, not to mention kidnapping our sons and detaining them in Dignity Operation jails in Benghazi.” The people who filed the case indicated.

They also called for an investigation into the violations and lifting the immunity on the accused military ranks in order to arrest and interrogate them, stressing that they want the case to go to the International Criminal Court at the Hague.

"The accused persons from the Dignity Operation are Jamal Al-Zahawi, Wanees Bu Khamada, Faraj AL-Berasi, Faraj Agaim, Salah Abu Leghaib, Ayad Al-Fessi, and Abdullah Abu Haliga." According to the lawsuit.

Commenting on the on the lawsuit, Abdullah Al-Fessi – a Dignity Operation leader – said it is valueless because the ones who filed it are responsible for murders and assassinations in Benghazi, so burning down their houses and displacing them is a natural reaction from the parents and relatives of the victims.

Benghazi has been seeing divided arrest campaigns and burning of houses as well as destruction of houses since the eruption of clashes on October 15, 2014, when Dignity Operation, which controls most of the city of Benghazi, and Benghazi Shura Council, which is positioned in Al-Sabri and Sooq Al-Hoot neighborhoods in the city center in addition to some positions in western Benghazi.
