A delegation of members from the Tobruk-based House of Representatives arrived in Ghadames Thursday in a bid to prepare for a meeting, expectedly on Wednesday, aimed at endorsing the UN-proposed government.
The HoR members are to prepare the session that is going to be attended by pro-Skhirat agreement members after the HoR has for long failed to convene a meeting in its Tobruk headquarters, wherein they can approve the UN-proposed government and amend the constitutional declaration to include the political agreement, due to hurdles made by anti-UN-proposed government HoR members.
Upon using force to keep them out of HoR’s meeting hall in Tobruk, a number of members signed a statement to support the UN-proposed government and regarded it as an endorsement of the accord government. However, local and international parties, including the UN envoy to Libya, Martin Kobler, have called for holding an HoR meeting outside Tobruk.
On the other hand, the Libyan political dialogue’s team held a meeting on Thursday in Tunisia in which they called on the HoR to fulfill its commitments as per the political agreement, including making amendments to the constitutional declaration and endorsing the government.
