Libyan-African Gathering convened Thursday in Tripoli in the presence of ambassadors, diplomats and the Turkish ambassador as an honorary guest. The gathering was an invitation by the House of Representatives and its Foreign Affairs and International Communication Committee to discuss developing Libyan-African relations in security, economy and politics.

The Tripoli-based House of Representatives' Speaker, Hamouda Sayala, welcomed in his speech at the gathering the attendees and stressed the importance of Africa's role in resolving Libya's crisis, reiterating the need for a unified security policy for the entire continent.

The Libyan Foreign Minister Mohammed Sayala also delivered a speech, welcoming a positive role from Africa in the peace process in Libya, hoping for more cooperation in security and investment as well as in fighting illegal immigration.

The same idea was also reiterated by the Head of the Preparation Committee of the Gathering and Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Ali Abu Zakouk, who also wished that African cooperation would lead to an end of negative foreign intervention.
