The House of Representatives (HoR) Deputy Speaker Fawzi Nuwairi has denied discussing holding a session of Parliament next Monday to discuss the state's budget, confirming the presidency did not receive any request in this regard.

Nuwairi, said in a statement Tuesday that he was surprised by the "violation and exploitation of the Parliament's Presidency of the legal regulations."

"The law defines the procedures for holding the sessions," Al-Nuwairi said.

He stressed that such violations negatively affect the Parliament's work and the supreme interest of the state.

"We emphasize the necessity of holding sessions on a regular and systematic basis and not according to the mood that does not comply with the principle of cohesion and unity of the council," The HoR deputy speaker added.

Earlier the same day, the HoR released a statement signed on behalf of the HoR Presidency inviting MPs to an official session on Monday at the HoR's HQ in Tobruk.

The statement indicated that the session would discuss articles of the draft law for the 2021 budget and leadership positions to sovereign institutions.
