Several members who suspended attending the sessions of the Tobruk-based House of Representatives (HoR) said the Speaker, Aqilah Saleh, violated the internal work codes of the HoR and has had power only to himself.

The MPs called on Saleh to carry out a group of needed and radical reforming measures.

In a statement, the MPs said they contacted Saleh and asked him to reform the internal work codes, but he ignored the urge and looked the other way.

"After Saleh's indifference toward our calls, we will take all the legal procedures to make those demands materialize. We will hold a full quorum session with the oldest MP among us as the Speaker and then will take bold decisions and measures to save what is left from the HoR." The statement reads.

They added that the eighth constitutional amendment had been clear regarding representing Libya abroad (Prime Minister) but Saleh played the role of the President to represent Libya overseas.

"HoR has become crippled amid the current unfit administration and the control of the Speaker on most of its legislative authorities, which are for all HoR members to discuss." The statement indicates.

They also added that their claims have been recently endorsed by courts' repealing many decisions made by the Speaker, especially appointment of a military governor for the eastern region (the court rejected it as it was decided by a person of non-authority.)

61 HoR members suspended their membership when the HoR failed to appoint a new governor for the Central Bank of Libya a month ago.
