The head of the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), Emad Al-Sayeh, and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council, Mohamed Al-Hafi, met on Tuesday to discuss the legal procedures related to the electoral process set to take place by the end of this year.

In a statement on Facebook, the HNEC indicated that the meeting which took place at the Supreme Judicial Council HQ was attended by chief election advisor in the UN's mission to Libya.

The meeting dealt with legal matters related to future elections, the most prominent of which is the issue of appeals and disputes, and in this regard, the participants reviewed previous experiences and legal provisions drafted on this issue.

They also discussed the possibility of developing the relevant legal texts to ensure that the concerned parties in the upcoming elections have the right to litigate and to bring integrity and transparency to the outcome of the electoral process.
