The High National Elections Commission (HNEC) announced Monday that voter registration inside and outside Libya ended.

The registration was launched on December 06, 2017 and ended on March 31, 2018.

The HNEC said in a statement that 2,434,654 voters (53.26% of potential Libyan voters) registered and thus "this percentage is above the average percentage adopted by international community to say an election is credible."

"We thank all Libyans who registered as voters in order to exercise their right to choose politicians in their country. Those who couldn't register shall take the closes upcoming chance and register." The HNEC's statement reads.

It added that the political activists and the media should look for authenticity in reporting the information published by the HNEC, pointing out that they shouldn't manipulate the information so it serves some parties' agendas.

Last September, UNSMIL's Head Ghassan Salame announced an action plan that sees Libya going into parliamentary and presidential elections by the end of 2018. At the same time, the HNEC said the current registration is an update to the record of voters and it is ready to conduct the elections and referendum on the constitution any time.
