The Libyan High National Elections Commission (HNEC) launched Sunday a training program "Techniques for Fact-checking Fake News and Research Methods in Media Outlets".

HNEC said on Facebook that the program was launched in Tripoli and would go for three days in cooperation with the American Bar Association (ABA). The program is delivered by experts in this domain.

Awareness and Communication Director at the HNEC Najah Al-Jabrani said the program is a continuation of the HNEC's plan to ramp up efforts to hold elections, adding that the targeted groups are those who coordinate awareness campaigns at electoral offices and the employees of the awareness administration at the HNEC.

She said they would be trained on fact-checking fake news and single out hate speech then tackle it, not to mention tackling unprofessionalism during media coverage for election campaigns.
