A hit-and-run driver turned himself in to the police days after a group of foreign workers cleaning the streets were struck by a car on the Airport Rd.

Two workers died at the scene while five others were rushed to hospital, following the crash last week.

According to the Tripoli Security Directorate, the driver surrendered to the security services of the Abu Salim Traffic Department.

Sergeant Mohammed Al-Bouzidi, the investigation officer in the Abu Salim Traffic Department said a man driving an Azira was responsible for the traffic accident that killed two foreign workers employed in the General Services Company.

The General Services Company of Tripoli mourned the death of its employees and said they died in the line of duty.

The driver was referred to the relevant authorities to proceed with the legal measures, the security services have confirmed.
