The Head of the UN-proposed government's Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sirraj, met with the Italian Interior Minister, Marco Minniti, in Tripoli on Monday.

The Interior minister-designate Aref Al-Khouja, the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Perrone, the Head of the land border crossings, Munji A;-Rihaibi, and the Chief of the Libyan Coast Guard, Abdullah Tumiya, were also present in the meeting.

According to the Presidential Council's media office, the Libyan and Italian officials discussed security cooperation between the two countries as well as the training programs for the Libyan border security, and illegal immigration fighting personnel.

The meeting also revolved around discussions regarding developing the efficiency of the Libyan Coast Guard personnel and providing Libya with the needed equipment in this regard.

On Twitter, the Italian Embassy in Libya said Al-Sirraj and Minniti discussed illegal immigration issues, vowing to help Libya cut off the migrants' influx by all possible means.
