The Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Mustafa Sanallah, has called on the people of the south in general, in particular those in the city of Ubari to help release the kidnapped employees from the Sharara oilfield.

Sanallah stated in a news conference on Monday that the NOC would not pay any ransom, noting that the current situation would devastate if carried on any further.

It is worth noting that an armed group kidnapped four employees working at the Sharara oilfield before releasing two of them later.

The two remaining hostages are one Libyan and one Romanian.

The NOC declared force majeure on oil exports at the oil port of Al-Zawiya in western Libya on Tuesday after oil output dropped in the Sharara oilfield.
