The Head of the Libyan High Council of State Khalid Al-Mishri has reaffirmed that the situation in Libya doesn't require any new political initiatives, saying international initiatives won't find a better solution to the conflict in the country than what the Libyan Political Agreement signed in Morocco's Skhirat in December 2015.
Al-Mishri's statement was made in a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of Morocco, Nasser Burita, as a delegation from the HCS arrived in Rabat Friday coming from Mauritania.
"Some initiatives are for reconciliation in Libya, but the country doesn't need political initiatives anymore as Libya has a clear roadmap aiming for respecting the Skhirat agreement, launching a constitutional referendum and then holding presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible." He indicated.
Al-Mishri warned that there are no assurances for implementing new agreements whether out of Berlin or Geneva talks as international and individual efforts of certain countries are not helping resolve the Libyan conflict, rather further complicating it.
Burita said various initiatives won't be of any help to the Libyan conflict as they would scatter efforts instead of uniting them, adding that Morocco believes that foreign interventions aren't capable of resolving Libya's crisis but Libyans themselves are.
"Military solution isn't a choice in Libya for Morocco. We are ready to be part of any constructive measures that aim for a solution in Libya based on dialogue, political action and the interests of Libya."
