The Head of the High Council of State (HCS) Khalid Al-Mishri has reviewed with a number of US Congress members in Washington the status quo in Libya.

Al-Mishri was in Washington upon an invitation by the US Congress to attend the National Breakfast Day in the presence of the US president Donald Trump.

According to the media office of the HCS, Al-Mishri met with several congressmen and political leaderships in Washington and talked about the mutual relations between the two countries.

"We hope that the US would be a strategic partner to Libya and help us get rid of negative foreign intervention in the country." Al-Mishri said in one of his several meetings in Washington.

He added that the HCS is in line with the UNSMIL, saying they had formed a committee to follow up on the National Conference.

"Our vision is to hold elections after the referendum on the constitution takes place, thus ending the presence of all current political bodies." Al-Mishri added.
