The Parliament's voting session to give confidence to Fathi Bashagh-government is invalid due to the lack of a quorum, says the Head of the Fezzan Tribes and Cities Council, Ali Abu Sbeiha.
"Apart from supporting or rejecting the competitive governments of Dbiebah or Bashagha or the violation of the political roadmap and stripping Fezzan of its rights, the House of Representatives (HoR) failed to establish the quorum required by its rules of procedure, which is 88 members," Abu Sbeiha wrote on his Facebook account.
He added that the Speaker of the Tobruk-based Parliament (HoR), Aqila Saleh, announced that the government was approved by 92 votes, even though the board had 82 votes.
The HoR speaker justified this by saying that some MPs' names were not announced for certain circumstances, while others voted electronically, but according to Abu Sbeiha, this never happened in the session.
Against this background, Abu Sbeiha insists that the parliament session was invalid and the government's approval is illegitimate "due to the flagrant fraud that was evident to all who followed the session."
