The head of the Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA), Noah Abdelsayed, warned Wednesday the Director for Near East and North Africa at the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Geneva, Romain Grandjean, not to encroach on the Libyan draft constitution, which was approved by the Constituent Assembly after a meeting held with members of the CDA who previously rejected the draft constitution.
"The draft constitution has become an exclusive right to Libyans, and they are the ones who have the power to take the decision by voting yes or no through a referendum," Abdelsayed stressed.
He further explained that the CDA has no connection to the state's policy, and that its only role is to issue the draft constitution, describing the attempt of the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue to create a new consensus on the draft constitution as "tampering", especially after it was approved by the CDA in July 2017.
The Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue in Geneva has earlier called 10 members of the CDA in cooperation with the Netherlands Institute of International Relations Clingendael to try building new consensus on the draft constitution.
