President of the High Council of State (HCS) Khaled Al-Mishri has deemed warlord Khalifa Haftar-led Dignity Operation forces militia groups who destroyed Benghazi and killed those who ignited February 2011 revolution.

In an interview with Sputnik, Al-Mishri said there is no military institution in east Libya, but rather militia groups led by sons of Haftar.

He pointed out that Haftar had put all his opponents in one basket and fought them with terror pretext.

“Haftar chose to eliminate February 2011 revolution fighters and the terrorists together,” he said, adding that he should have coordinated with 2011 revolution fighters to fight terror.

Al-Mishri recalled Haftar’s permission to allow ISIS terrorists to escape from Benghazi and Derna to Sirte, saying this raises a lot of questions.

Reacting to Haftar’s frequent threats to “liberate Tripoli”, Al-Mishri said this is just propaganda as he cannot take control of Tripoli.

This is not the first scathing attack on Haftar’s armed groups. In 2017, Al-Mishri declared Haftar’s self-styled army as a terrorist organization.
