The High Council of State (HCS) and Tobruk-based Parlement are currently holding consultative meetings in the Kingdom of Morocco to discuss the current crisis, an official at HCS told the Anadolu news agency, on Saturday.

The agency quoted the official, who preferred to remain anonymous, as saying that the present meetings involve committees from the HCS and the Tobruk-based Parliament in Morocco.

He explained that these negotiations may be crowned by face to face talks between top representatives of both parties, including the HCS head Khaled Al-Mishri and the Speaker of Tobruk Parliament, Aqila Saleh. If this should happen, it will be the first direct meeting between top representatives of the two camps since they both accepted the ceasefire last month.

Al-Mishri confirmed during his meeting with civil society activists last Wednesday, that "influential people in the Libyan scene" from both parties have been engaged in consultative meetings in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations, "but insisted "It is not a substitute for the political dialogue."

He indicated that their talks with representatives from the Tobruk-based HoR fall under the routine meetings, which the HSC holds with their colleagues in the Tripoli-based HoR.

"These meetings are regular, and they could include between 40 to 50 members," Al-Mishri explained.

No official statement has yet been made from either the Moroccon or the  Libyan authorities, regarding the meeting scheduled to take place in Rabat between Al-Mishri and Saleh, but media outlets anticipated that it is due to take place during the next week.
