Khalifa Haftar's Air Force warplanes and ground forces struck and shelled with Grad rockets Mitiga Airport in Tripoli early on Saturday.

The attacks on Mitiga Airport came after hours of the announcement of killing commander of 9th Brigade Abdelwahhab Al-Migri, militia leader Mohsen Al-Kani and his brother Abdeladeem, who all died in clashes with the Volcano of Rage operation under the Presidential Council's government on Ain Zara frontline in southern Tripoli.

Social media accounts close to Al-Kani militia that is fighting for Haftar's forces threatened to target positions and neighborhoods in Tripoli with Grad rockets, while others went as far as saying they will "show Tripoli hell".

Mitiga Airport has been closed since September 01 and until a further notice with flights being redirected to Misrata Airport because of repetitive attacks on the airport by Haftar's forces, the latest of which coincided with the arrival of hajis from Saudi Arabia.
