Khalifa Haftar's forces renewed attacks on Tripoli's Mitiga Airport and the areas in its vicinity, leading to the evacuation of passengers and personnel as well as suspending all flights.

The attacks targeted the air traffic control tower and obliged the airport to redirect all flights to Misrata Airport, damaging some of the airport's facilities and the runway.

A source from the airport, who asked to remain anonymous, said the attack on the air traffic control tower would lead to suspension of flights temporarily due to the daily shelling by Khalifa Haftar's forces on the airport and the surrounding area of Souq Al-Jumua.

Two planes had been hit by the attacks of Haftar's forces; one was for Al-Afriqiyah Airways and the other for Buraq Air. They both went out of service to repair the damage.

Meanwhile, Al-Afriqiyah Airways has redirected all its flights to Misrata Airport, while Buraq Air suspended all flights due to the repeated attacks on Mitiga Airport.
