Khalifa Haftar has appointed his Chief of General Staff, Abdelrazik Al-Nathori, as the General Commander of his self-proclaimed Libyan National Army to replace him for three months so he could run for Libya presidential elections on December 24, according to a paper circulated on pro-Haftar media.

The decision says Al-Nathori will be the General Commander in place of Haftar from September 23 to December 24 - the day of general elections.

Local media said the Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh did the same, but the HoR spokesman denied such a news.

Haftar's presidential bid has been expected from the start of the preparations for December elections, especially after the HoR presidential elections law, which allows political and military positions' occupants to run for elections if they left their jobs three months prior to December 24. If they failed to be elected, they can return to their jobs and get their three months' salaries.
