The Head of the Libyan-American Alliance, Esam Omeish, said Khalifa Haftar's lawyers had informed the alliance that Haftar rejected attending the court session slated for September 22 or any other upcoming sessions.

Omeish said on Facebook on Saturday that default judgment against Haftar can be a choice for the victims' families in addition to demanding compensation.

Omeish reported the attorneys of the victims' families that Haftar would lose the case at court if he didn't attend the session and that they would request the judge rule to oblige Haftar to attend.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Democracy and Human Rights Foundation, Emadeddin Muntasser, said the victims families' lawyers would inform the court of Haftar’s refusal to attend the session and request a default judgment, adding that the judge had told Haftar’s attorney that if his client tried to hinder the court proceedings or failed to attend, she would rule against.
