Khalifa Haftar has agreed to pay more than $ 4,000 in legal fees and expenses for the case brought against him by the plaintiff Ali Hamza before a federal court in Virginia, Emadeddin Muntasser, the President of the Democracy and Human Rights Foundation, has confirmed.

The cost's order was issued by Judge Leonie M Brinkema who gave the green light for the case to proceed forward after a months-long hiatus due to legal procedures.

"Hafter has been forced to pay the attorney for the plaintiff after the former evaded the court's interrogation," Muntasser wrote on his Facebook account.

According to the court ruling issued on March 11, Haftar's interrogation sessions will proceed in early April.

The court, however, had cautioned it would consider suspending the legal proceedings in the event of any political interference in the case.

On the other hand, the counsel had reiterated in a previous memorandum to the court that his office and client did not take any steps or make any statements that had a political dimension but that their only goal was to achieve justice.
