Fighting intensified in southern Tripoli on Friday, mainly in the Yarmouk and Salah al-Din frontlines, in addition to Khallatat and the Airport Road.

A source from the Special Deterrence Force (SDF) confirmed that the Libyan Army forces managed to enhance their positions in Salah al-Din after they launched an attack on the positions of Haftar's militias.

At least 10 of Haftar's gunmen were killed, including a colonel, and more than 10 others arrested after destroying their armoured vehicles, according to the source.

On the Airport Road, Haftar's militia attempted to penetrate into the area in order to disperse the Libyan Army forces who were attacking Hamza Camp in the Khallatat axis.

However, the Libyan Army forces received back-up and managed to restore their position in the area. They also destroyed all vehicles of Haftar's militias and killed a number of them as well as capturing 10 others.

In the same context, militias belonging to Haftar in the cities of Surman and Sabratah attempted to launch a surprise attack on the city of Zawiya with the aim to force those fighting from Zawiya in the frontlines south of Tripoli to withdraw and return to the city.

These militias fired missiles towards the city, one of which hit a house near the Zawiya refinery.

Identical sources from Zawiya confirmed that hundreds of the city's residents, both military and civilians, gathered at" Abu Issa" area, where these militias were stationed, and clashed with them for a short time before the militias withdrew after the killing of their leader, Abdul al-Raouf Amitar.

The sources added that Zawiya forces have advanced to Al-Mutrad –a town between Zawiya and Surman- but they have no intention to take any further steps now, however, all option remain open, according to one of the leaders of Zawiya forces.
