After the meeting in Abu Dhabi, the UAE's capital, between Khalifa Haftar, the leader of Dignity Operation and the Head of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sirraj, many leaks surfaced regarding the two controversial kingpins' agreement, with many eyes focused on the upcoming statement that expresses their concord.

However, the two parties had issued each a different statement than the other, but both hailing the efforts of the UAE and neighboring countries in making the meeting happen.

Haftar's statement concentrated on the two parties' agreement on enabling the military institution in its war on terrorism, and making sure the ban on weapons purchase by what he called the Libyan army is lifted.

Whereas, Al-Sirraj's statement hardly mentioned anything about lifting the arms ban or enabling the military institution, but rather it was centered on finding a comprehensive strategy to develop and build the Libyan army, reaffirming that it should be under the command of a civilian authority.

Al-Sirraj also focused on speeding up the constitution works so that the transitional phase ends, stressing on the value of 17 February revolution's constants and the need for peaceful power circulation.

To no one's surprise, Haftar's statement said nothing about the revolution and merely focused on enabling and supporting the military.

Nonetheless, the two statements shared a common denominator, which is the need for alleviating the current economic burdens that are troubling Libyans, fight terror and deescalate the current military tension in southern Libya.

A leaked agreement was posted Tuesday in the wake of the meeting between Al-Sirraj and Haftar. The agreement said presidential and legislative elections will be held in Libya by March 2018.
