The UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said the ceasefire announced on January 12 in Libya has been constantly violated, saying he was sorry that the Libyan parties didn't commit to the UN arms embargo in the country and describing what is happening in Libya as "a scandal".

In a press conference on Tuesday, Guterres hoped the Libyan joint 5+5 military commission, which is meeting in Geneva, would continue until it reaches agreement on a permanent ceasefire in Libya.

Guterres indicated that there are repeated violations of the ceasefire in Libya and that he was disappointed with what is happening in the war-ravaged country saying it is "a scandal" and that several countries vowed in Berlin not to send weapons to Libya but the arms embargo is being violated.

He also explained that the ceasefire in Libya wasn't respected at all despite the UN resolutions urging parties to commit to it.
