An official source in Al-Jufra reported that a group of gunmen had attacked a checkpoint in Fuqahaa town on Monday dawn, causing no casualties.

The source added that the gunmen are linked to the armed group that attacked and killed Commercial Bank representatives in Al-Jadeed area in Sabha, few days ago.

The source indicated that the military governor appointed by Khalifa Haftar called for ignoring news about the identity of the attackers and threatened to jail those who post news otherwise, saying all fingers must be pointed at ISIS.

Central and southern Libya areas, including Fuqahaa town, have seen over the last months attacks by ISIS militants on police and military positions, the most recent of which was an attack on a checkpoint of an oil field near Zallah.
