The Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, said he had accepted the invitation of his Libyan counterpart, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, to visit Libya soon.

Greek City Times newspaper said Tuesday that Mitsotakis had congratulated Dbeibah on the swearing in of the Government of National Unity, expressing support for holding general elections by the end of 2021.

"Greece is looking forward to having bilateral relations with Libya's new government." The newspaper said, adding that Greece, as a member of the European Union and NATO, offered to help Libya in reconstruction projects.

The new Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, was an ambassador to Greece before he was dismissed in 2019 after the Government of National Accord signed a maritime MoU with Turkey, which Greece considered a violation of international law.
