Libya Grand Mufti Sheikh Sadiq Al-Gharyani described the killing of the commander of battalion (111) Murad Al-Gumati by the Special Deterrent Force (SDF) as a reckless act and indifference towards the lives of the innocent.

In an article published on Sunday, the Mufti explained that Al-Gumati was known for his courage and honesty and was one of the sincere revolutionaries from its first days, pointing out that the SDF has violated the sanctity of the innocent Libyans once they shot dead Al-Gumati with their random bullets then penetrating the body of a passerby while tracking down Al-Gumati.

The Mufti also denounced the SDF's justification for the killing of Al-Gumati by alleging that he was an affiliate of IS group, stressing that conclusions and claims cannot be based on a video without conducting further investigation to reach conclusive evidence.

“The (IS-fighting) slogan adopted by the SDF is the same one that was used in the destruction of Benghazi over the past year and a half, and it is the same slogan by which the revolutionary leaders as well as about three hundred of religious preachers were killed there.” The Mufti added.

The Mufti expressed wishes that the SDF would not be plunged into violating the sanctity of the innocent souls just by mistake or by suspicion, warning the commander of the SDF and other forces that they are responsible for what is being done by the individuals under their command.

Sheikh Sadiq Al-Gharyani also condemned in his article IS group and their supporters.

“Those who sympathize with IS group are giving the go-ahead for the enemies to destroy the Muslim countries, pointing that they have offended Islam in a way never found in history and calling on the sympathizers to rethink of their behaviour before the Islamic Nation is undone.” Elaborated the Mufti.

The SDF shot dead the commander of the (111) battalion, Murad Al-Gumati last week charging him with being a member of the IS group, which was completely refuted by Al-Gumati’s family.
