The President of the General National Congress, Nuri Abu Sahmain, refused to meet Fayez Sirraj, the Head of the UN-proposed Presidential Council outside Libya, a source from the GNC disclosed.

The source, who preferred to remain anonymous, told Press Solidarity Tuesday, that Sirraj requested a meeting with Abu Sahmain outside Libya three times in the same day.

“In the first request, Sirraj suggested they meet in Tunisia, in the second, Algeria, and the in the third, he proposed Turkey.” The source added.

It also stated that Abu Sahmain wanted Sirraj’s meeting with him to take place in Tripoli, however, only as a Libyan citizen.

Early in the week, Sirraj met with renegade General Khalifa Haftar, the leader of the Dignity Operation, in Al-Marj city, which provoked a storm of protests from other members of the Presidential Council.
