The Presidential Council and the High Council of State have both warned of a new military escalation by warlord Khalifa Haftar’s armed groups in Tripoli, according to intelligence reports.

Sources said a foreign country warned the Presidential Council that Khalifa Haftar and his foreign backers are planning a new large-scale attack on Tripoli.

In a statement, the Presidential Council said the new attack will target with airstrikes vital civilian facilities including Mitiga Airport.

The statement confirmed that government forces are ready to repel the attack as they did in the first one early in April.

“The Presidential Council calls the UN Mission in Libya to hold its responsibility towards this new military escalation,” read the statement.

While the Presidential Council declined to mention Haftar’s foreign backers, the High Council of State named three countries as Haftar’s co-plotters.

The High Council of State said in a statement France, Egypt and the UAE are masterminding an imminent attack in an attempt to take Tripoli.

The statement disclosed that the three countries are going to use air and sophisticated weapons to back Haftar’s new offensive on Tripoli.

Haftar’s armed groups have failed to advance on Tripoli following their surprise attack on April 04, despite their claims that Tripoli would be fallen in a few days.
