The Foreign Ministry of the Government of National Accord (GNA) has filed a complaint letter to France for the unpermitted presence of French military aircraft over Misrata, 200 km to the east of Tripoli.

"We are dismayed by the presence of one French Rafale aircraft and a fuel aircraft over Misrata and Abu Grein without permission." The Foreign Ministry said in the complaint on Wednesday.

The Libyan Foreign Ministry added that its French counterpart had confirmed that it would contact the Defense Ministry to get more details and then inform the Libyan officials about the issue.

France is a prominent Khalifa Haftar supporter, politically and militarily, knowing that three French pilots were killed in 2016 as their helicopter, which was carrying combat missions for Haftar's forces, got shot down over western Benghazi.

Libyan Army forces seized last June, in Gharyan liberation battle, French Javelin missiles, which France denied to own them first but then backed off saying they were for French troops participating in intelligence anti-terrorism missions.
