Slain Gaddafi's son Saif Al-Islam is released, his lawyer has confirmed.

Lawyer Karim Khan told France 24 today that his client was freed on April 12, 2016 by his Zintani captives under an amnesty bill passed by Tobruk parliament.

On April 10, the late Minister of Justice of Al-Thani government Mabrouk Graira ordered Zintan Court to release Saif Al-Islam, who has been detained in there since 2011. Khan said Saif is well and safe and in Libya

In July 2015, Tripoli Court of Appeal sentenced him, in absentia, to death by firing squad after he was found guilty of committing war crimes and suppressing peaceful protests during the 2011 revolution. The Zintani militia, which is detaining him, refused to comply with the court verdict.
