Moammar Gaddafi's presidential Airbus (A340-213) arrived in Tripoli's Mitiga airport for the first time since 2012 after undergoing maintenance. The aircraft arrival was marked by Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah and several officials.

Dbeibah told reporters on the runway that the aircraft is a Libyan property and its return is "important to Libyan sovereignty" because it has been seized in France since 2012 over financial and administrative measures, saying Libya has now paid all the needed money for the maintenance and that there are 15 other Libyan planes - seized for money - that will be returned home.

He also indicated that his government will make all necessary endeavors to return two warplanes that are still overseas, adding that the presidential aircraft that returned Sunday is for all Libyans to decide on how to be used: keeping it for the upcoming elected president, government use or selling it so the people can use its cost via public services.

The Airbus was in France since August 2012. It was flown there for maintenance after toppling Gaddafi. The aircraft suffered some gunshots on its exterior. It later was sent to Turkey for a final maintenance stage before flying to Libya.
