The Fuel and Gas Crisis Committee of the Brega Oil Company has accused officials at the highest level in the country without identifying them of involvement in the smuggling of fuel to finance their goals and personal interests.

The committee added in a statement posted on their official account on Facebook on Tuesday that the silence of all regarding smuggling operations aims to increase suffering on Libyan citizens.

It criticized the House of Representatives and High Council of State as well as the two governments in Tripoli and Bayda for not issuing any statement confirming Libya's refusal of smuggling operations and leaving the committee alone in the face of what it described as international gangs and specific countries.

The committee called on all security branches to take the necessary actions to reduce the phenomenon of rampant smuggling operations, stressing that it will strike with an iron hand all those who attempt to steal the lifeline of Libyans.
